The Special Session Starts
The Louisiana legislature is in session to address the current home insurance marketplace problem in the state - namely, that more than 20 companies have folded or left the state after major storms have devastated Louisiana, forcing a lot of insurance claims.
The only solution that appears to be on the table is a corporate handout of $45 million. If a company takes a chunk of that, they have match it, and then provide double that in new premiums. In other words, for every dollar of state money they take in, they have to write enough premiums to equal four times that amount. Sounds good in theory, but this is a band-aid over a much bigger problem.

Americans Are More Worried About Government Than Inflation
Inflation has been one of the primary concerns (if not the primary concern) of voters in several polls for a while now. With everything more expensive than ever and prices remaining high, the economic stability of the United States has voters extremely worried.
But, as I wrote this morning, that isn’t the top concern of voters right now. Instead, it’s government and government dysfunction.
Graves, Wilson Still Eyeing Governor’s Race
U.S. Rep. Garret Graves and Louisiana Secretary of Transportation Dr. Shawn Wilson are both still eyeing a run for governor, even as both parties are less than thrilled with their leadership right now.
According to Greg Hillburn with the USA Today Network:
Should Graves enter the race, it could shake up the already-crowded field. Several business people, civic leaders and other elected officials who don’t support Landry are encouraging Graves to run. They see him as the best shot to beat the attorney general, who many fear would be difficult to work with as governor.

Meanwhile, Wilson said it was a “loaded question” when asked Friday night by a reporter if he was running for governor. Best known as a member of Gov. John Bel Edwards cabinet, Wilson said his decision won’t be influenced by what other candidates, Democrat or Republican, get into the race.
