I have, over the last several weeks of 2024, taken a step back from a lot of political writing. I kept the podcasts coming and wrote more newsy items at RedState, but I know a lot of you were wondering where the posts here were.
Some of you even reached out, which I appreciate.
Throughout December, I spent a lot of time thinking about my primary job, which is being a program director for two news talk stations and one sports talk station. I have been neck-deep in research on growing traditional radio and strategies for increasing digital presence with about as barebones a staff as it can get (the results are, at times, less than encouraging).
I am in my fourth year of having a radio show in south Louisiana (the four year anniversary is officially on Friday, January 10). I have been running these three stations since January 8, 2024, though I didn’t officially get the title until April. All of 2024 was spent getting the trains back on the various tracks. And, truthfully, I have loved every minute of it.
But 2025 is going to be all about growth.
I plan to grow my stations. I plan to grow this Substack. I still am not entirely sure whether I will ever start offering Subscriber-only content so I don’t want to charge anyone yet, but if there is a big response for it, I’ll gladly do so.
I am, often, a one-man team when it comes to what I want to do, and even in the corporate world I work in, I’m often flying solo to try and make things work. So the growth for my personal projects, like Substack, is slower because this isn’t my full-time job. But many of you all have been here for a long time, and you’ve stuck with me. I’m not planning on leaving you hanging.
Here’s what you can expect:
More political commentary: It’s been my interest for a very long time. I’m nowhere near the levers of power. I’m just an outside observer who likes to read and has some really smart friends in that world. You’ll see plenty of that coming.
More podcast content: Along with the radio show, there is some more content coming. Sports, culture, and more.
Radio industry commentary: I’m going to start essentially journaling my studies into the world of the radio industry and you guys will get an insight into where I think things are now and where they are headed next as it pertains to the stations I run.
Tomorrow, life returns to normal. An op-ed here, a podcast there. Thanks for sticking around. I appreciate y’all.
Awesome!
